A Mum reached out asking for advice “What’s a good movie making app?” for her daughter. The use case is that the daughter will capture images and videos on her mobile device. She then wants to create a short movie which can shared online via Social Media. Since the mobile device in question is an iPhone, I decided to go with iMovie.
Not your typical IT Support gig, but this is one of the things I live for – Being able to make IT solutions easy and accessible for families!
iMovie is a great app for making videos. I use it exclusively for making my content. It’s really intuitive to use and forgiving of mistakes. It comes with a bunch of built in themes, a range of transitions, and title texts. It also has an absolute wealth of backing tracks and sound effects. You can do cut-away inserts, voice overs. More than enough to get your film making career off to a great start!
We agreed a time and I worked with the daughter to install iMovie, and showed her how to get started. She got her head around the app really fast, and only needed a few pointers from me to find her way through the menus.
